SAINT JOSEPH'S MONASTERY

BENEDICTINE MONKS + ORA ET LABORA

Giving - Helping Support the Monastic Life

As Benedictine monks the vow of poverty is included in Conversatio, which calls us not only to the the task of providing for our needs by the work of our hands and living simply, but also to a radical dependence on the providence of God as well. Hence, we pray that God will open the hearts of good Episcopalians to support us financially through periodic donations.

A monastic community requires many essential elements for its survival. Through the goodness of those who support our life of prayer with donations for our crafts and free will offerings, we are able to not only provide for our needs, but also to give of our funds to local  charitable organizations that assist the poor and needy directly.

To help sustain a monastery is an act of homage when it is done as an offering of love made to God. This is the intention we encourage everyone to have who assist in supporting the monastery. The benefactors and their intentions are remembered every day in the prayers of the monks.
